Daal Curry

Ingredients for Daal Curry:

1. Pigeon pea – 1 cup

2. Salt – For taste

3. Ghee – 2 small spoons

4. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Cumin seeds – ¾ small spoon

    Fenugreek – ½ small spoon

5. Green chillies – 2, end split

    Ginger – ½ inch piece chopped

6. Chilli powder – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

    Coriander powder – ¾ small spoon

     Asafoetida powder – 1 pinch

7. Tomato cut into fine pieces – ½

8. Coconut scrapped – 1 small spoon

    Coriander leaves chopped – 1 small spoon

How to prepare Daal Curry?

1. Wash daal and cook in a pressure cooker adding sufficient water.

2. Add 1 cup water to cooked daal and smash it well.

3. Heat ghee. Sauté mustard and cumin seeds, followed by ginger and green chillies.

4. Bring flame to low and add ingredients no: 6.

5. Fry it well and add sliced tomatoes.

6. When tomatoes are sauted well, add cooked daal along with water.

7. Cook the daal for 10 minutes in low flame.

8. When a layer of ghee appears on the surface of daal, decorate your daal with scrapped coconut and coriander leaves and serve hot.
