Awdhesh Mishra – Bhojpuri big screen villain best known for ‘Dulha Aisan Chahi’

Awdhesh Mishra is a Bhojpuri actor best known for his villain and negative shaded characters on Bhojpuri screen. He has also done a very few character roles on Hindi screen. Mishra got into acting in films since late 1980s, and in a career spanning to three decades, he did more than 50 films belonging to Bhojpuri, Tamil and Hindi languages. After struggling in film industry in more than 15 years with less-significant roles, he rose to fame with villain role in the Bhojpuri movie, ‘Dulha Aisan Chahi’ directed by Sunil Sinha, which helped him to establish as a leading villain in Bhojpuri film industry.

Awdhesh Mishra was born in Sitamarhi, Bihar in 1969. He started his professional career as a stage actor before getting his first break on big screen. Katha Madhopur Ki (1989) produced by Prakash Jha was his first credit role, followed by less-significant and uncredited roles throughout 1990s and early 2000s. His role as Bhagwan Mahadev (Lord Mahadev) in Maithili film Kakhan Harab Dukh Mor (2005) was his impressive role. After playing antagonist in Dulha Aisan Chahi, he finally established his career in film industry after a lot of struggles. His role as eunuch in ‘Jwalamandi- Ek Prem Kahani’ was also well received.

Apart from villain roles, his roles in mythological characters, especially as Lord Siva have also won him fame and recognition. Dulaara, Mai Sehra Bandh Ke Aaunga, Dulhan Ganga Paar Ke, Jeena Teri Gali Mein, Chhora Ganga Kinare Wala, Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna, Suno Sasurji, Damru etc are some other noted works. His role in Odania Kamal Kade won him best villain award at 5th Bhojpuri Film Awards in 2009. He has won the same award for many years.

Awdhesh Mishra – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He has acted in a few Bollywood films. His role as Jabbar Singh in masala film, Dirty Politics (2015) starring Mallika Sherawat is one of his noted works in the recent past.

2. He shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in the film Ganga Devi.

3. He made his south Indian debut with 2014 Tamil film, Poojai.
