Simple storage tips for your home

How can you make your home tidy and neat? When things are arranged in an orderly manner and not even a bit of waste paper on floor, right? We fail in arranging things if we have not reserved proper storage places for things. Even a wrong placement of a toy or book can give disturbance to your mind, and the whole interior also. Also, your room will appear spacious only if unwanted things are not visible outside. We really want to make our rooms tidy particularly when we have guests at home. Proper storage spaces should be there to hide those unwanted and less used items from their eyes. Then only rooms appear spacious and we get a lot of free space inside the room to walk through. Our home reflects its internal beauty too. So, let me give you a few storage tips that can be noted while designing your home.

Pullouts and shelves attached to furniture of your living room – Your living room will contain a lot of furniture – settee, wooden chairs and small tables. Fully utilize them giving extra storage spaces. Pullouts, small drawers and shelves can be provided according to your needs and can be used for storing books, newspapers, toys, machinery tools etc. Without losing the beauty of your interior, it’s possible to build inbuilt shelves with shutters providing enough storage spaces. Such spaces can be created in any wall, designing in a creative way and shading with bright colours.

Utilize the place beneath your wash area and staircase – If a shelf is provided in between bedroom and dressing room, frequently using things can be placed there. For example, mobiles, purse, hand bags, watch etc. The space beneath your staircase is an excellent storage space to place unused newspapers, tools and even to dump old and less used things. Same is the case of the place beneath your wash area. Fully utilize those places by giving storage spaces. Design them in an artistic way to add extra beauty to your interior.

Pull-out drawers and normal shelves beneath staircases – Pull-out drawers and normal shelves can be designed beneath staircase. Keep in mind what things are to be placed here. If you have a sewing machine in your home that’s not used regularly, you can build a big drawer beneath staircase to keep it safe. You need to pull out the sewing machine only when it’s needed. Not only sewing machine, but any less-frequent used thing can be stored in this manner beneath your staircase.

A crockery shelf near dining table – If your dining area has a window, design a crockery shelf just near it with dimensions 30cmX30cm. L-shape or U-shape is the best and you can fix glass shutters also. If small pullouts are placed for dining chairs and table, you can place less weighed things here.

Space above the refrigerator – Not only beneath dining table, but also spaces beneath breakfast table, beds, study tables etc can be used to provide storage spaces. Space above the refrigerator can be designed a storage space with the same dimensions of your refrigerator.

I shall add a detailed post on how to make storage spaces. Hope I can add soon.
