Veppin Poovu Rasam (Neem Flower Rasam)
Ingredients for Veppin Poovu Rasam (Neem Flower Rasam):
1. Pigeon pea (Thuvara paripp) – 100 gm
2. Tamarind – 1 lemon sized
3. Tomato – 2 small, finely chopped
Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon
Rasam powder – 2 small spoon
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Salt – As required
Neem flower (Arya vepp’s flower) – 1 small spoon
4. Ghee – As needed
5. Mustard – 1 small spoon
Fenugreek seeds – ¼ small spoon
Red chillies – 1
How to prepare Veppin Poovu Rasam (Neem Flower Rasam)?
1. Cook daal, blend it well and keep aside.
2. Soak tamarind in 2 glasses of water and later prepare the juice.
3. Now boil ingredients no: 3 adding tamarind water.
4. Add cooked daal (pigeon pea) to it, and if needed, add extra water too.
5. Boil your rasam for a little more time and keep aside.
6. Heat ghee in a pan, sauté ingredients no: 5 and add to your rasam.
