Veena Nandakumar – Lead actress of Malayalam movie, ‘Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha’

Veena Nandakumar is an upcoming actress of Malayalam cinema, who gained recognition playing lead role in 2019 family drama, ‘Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha’. She played Asif Ali’s newlywed bride in the movie, and the movie opened to positive reviews. Kadamkatha (2017) gave her first break to Malayalam film industry.

Veena Nandakumar was born and brought up in Mumbai. Ottapalam of Palakkad district is her hometown. She visits her hometown during summer vacation every year. So she owns a mixed culture. Since childhood she used to watch Malayalam, Hindi and English films. She has never dreamt about cine world during her childhood days. Things took a sudden U-turn when she started dreaming to become an actress after completing her graduation.

She tried in music videos, small movies etc. She was first seen in the movie, Kadamkatha (2017) where she played female lead, and her role and movie went unnoticed. She did the photo shoot for a magazine named ‘Wedding Life’. Its photographer informed her about the requirement of a heroine for the upcoming flick, Kadamkatha. She sent the photos, was called for screen test and was finally selected for the role.

When she knew about the audition of the lead role of ‘Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha’, she applied for it and bagged the lead role of Rincy. The film did well at box office, and Veena received positive responses from family audience. She played a modern girl in the movie. She shot to fame with this flick, and also bagged her next project, Kozhi Poru directed by Jinoy Jibith. 

Veena Nandakumar – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. After graduating in English from Mumbai University, she went for civil service coaching and also worked in banking sector for a short period.

2. Though she got noticed through ‘Kettiyolaanu Ente Malakha’, she has joined Malayalam film industry long back in 2017.

3. Books and music are her favourite hobbies. She also loves singing.

4. She has openly admitted that she had a few love affairs and breakups before. Yet she has never repent over any of them.
