Vellarikka Thayir Curry (Cucumber Curd Curry)

Ingredients for Vellarikka Thayir Curry (Cucumber Curd Curry):

1. Cucumber cut into small pieces – 1 cup

2. Coconut – ½, scrapped

    Green chillies – 5

    Mustard- ½ small spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk

3. Oil – 3 big spoons

4. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Fenugreek – ¼ small spoon

    Curry leaves – 2 stalks

    Red chillies – 4

5. Ginger – 1 small piece, chopped fine

6. Onions cut very fine – ¾ cup

7. Curd- 1 cup

8. Salt – As required

9. Curry leaves – 1 stalk

10. Beet root cooked and grated – 1 big spoon

How to prepare Vellarikka Thayir Curry (Cucumber Curd Curry)?

1. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 2.

2. Heat oil and sauté ingredients no: 4.

3. Then add ginger to it and sauté again.

4. Add onions to it and when it changes colour add the fine paste of grinded coconut to it.

5. Add curd and salt to it.

6. When it starts boiling, add curry leaves and cucumber pieces.

7. Take off from flame mixing the contents. Never cook cucumber.

8. If you like, you can add cooked beetroot to this curry.
