Churakka – Paripp Curry (Bottle Gourd – Toor Daal Curry)

Ingredients for Churakka – Paripp Curry (Bottle Gourd – Toor Daal Curry):

1. Sambar daal (Toor daal) – ½ cup

2. Bottle gourd – 1 cup, cut into pieces

3. Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

    Salt – As required

4. Coconut – ½, scrapped

    Shallots – 4

    Garlic – 3 cloves

    Green chillies – 3

    Curry leaves – 4 leaves

    Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

5. Curry leaves – 1 stalk

6. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

7. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Shallots – 3, chopped

    Curry leaves – 2 stalks

    Red chillies – 2

How to prepare Churakka – Paripp Curry (Bottle Gourd – Toor Daal Curry)?

1. Cook daal and smash it well.

2. Cook bottle gourd adding salt and turmeric powder.

3. When it’s done, add cooked daal and smash the contents once again.

4. Blend ingredients no: 4 in a mixer and add to curry along with one stalk curry leaves.

5. When the curry starts boiling take off from flame.

6. Heat oil, temper ingredients no: 7 and add to curry.
