Aval Mixture (Poha Chivda)
Ingredients for Aval Mixture (Poha Chivda):
1. White aval (rice flakes) -1 kg
2. Coconut pieces sliced thin – 1 cup
3. Groundnut – 1 cup
4. Curry leaves – ½ cup
5. Roasted gram (Pottu Kadala) – 1 cup
6. Oil – For frying
7. Salt – For taste
Chilli powder – 2 or 3 small spoons
Chat masala – 1.5 small spoons
Cumin powder – 1 small spoon
How to prepare Aval Mixture (Poha Chivda)?
1. Place rice flakes under direct sun for 2 hours and fry it without adding oil.
2. Fry separately ingredients 2 to 5, and drain excess oil.
3. Mix together aval and the above fried ingredients and toss ingredients no: 7.
4. Once it cools, preserve in air-tight containers.
