Tomato Sadam (Thakkali Sadam)

Ingredients for Tomato Sadam (Thakkali Sadam):

1. Raw rice/white rice – ¼ kg

2. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

3. Mustard seeds – ¾ small spoon

    Bengal gram – 2 big spoons

4. Onions – 1 big, chopped fine

    Green chillies – 2, chopped fine

    Curry leaves – 2 stalks

    Salt – For taste

5. Tomato well-ripen – ¼ kg

6. Sambar powder – 1.5 small spoons

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

7. Cashew nuts – 8, fried in ghee

8. Ghee – 4 small spoons

How to prepare Tomato Sadam (Thakkali Sadam)?

1. Wash rice and add to boiling water.

2. Cook it and strain the water. (Never over cooked it)

3. Heat oil and sputter mustard and Bengal gram.

4. Add ingredients no: 4 and sauté well.

5. When onions are well sauted, add tomatoes and sauté again.

6. When tomatoes are well cooked, add the powders and check salt.

7. Add cooked rice and ghee and mix well.

8. Put off the flame.

9. Decorate your tomato rice with fried cashews and serve.
