Thiruvaranmula Krishna Ninnomal Thirumukham song from Thulasi Theertham – Lyrics in English with Translation

Thiruvaaranmula Krishna

Ninnomal thirumukham kanikandu nilkkumbol

Krishna of Aranmula,

While standing,

Seeing your innocent face as *Kani (first sight)

Enne marakkunnen dukham marakkunnu

Ellaam marakkunnu njaan

Innellaam marakkunnu njaan

I forget myself

I forget my sorrows

I forget everything

Today, I forget everything

Thiruvaaranmula Krishna

Ninnomal thirumukham kanikandu nilkkumbol

Krishna of Aranmula,

While standing,

Seeing your innocent face as *Kani

Enne marakkunnen dukham marakkunnu

Ellaam marakkunnu njaan

Innellaam marakkunnu njaan

I forget myself

I forget my sorrows

I forget everything

Today, I forget everything

Azhalil pedunnorkku karakeraan aviduthe

Mizhiyile kaarunnyam mathiyallo

For those who fall in sorrows,

To reach shore,

Your compassion in eyes is enough

Azhalil pedunnorkku karakeraan aviduthe

Mizhiyile kaarunnyam mathiyallo

For those who fall in sorrows,

To reach shore,

Your compassion in eyes is enough

Eriyunna theeyilum kulirekaanaa

Narum chiriyonnu maathram mathiyallo

Even in the burning fire,

To get coolness,

A single sweet smile of yours is enough

Eriyunna theeyilum kulirekaanaa

Narum chiriyonnu maathram mathiyallo

Even in the burning fire,

To get coolness,

A single sweet smile of yours is enough

Thiruvaaranmula Krishna

Ninnomal thirumukham kanikandu nilkkumbol

Krishna of Aranmula,

While standing,

Seeing your innocent face as *Kani

Enne marakkunnen dukham marakkunnu

Ellaam marakkunnu njaan

Innellaam marakkunnu njaan

I forget myself

I forget my sorrows

I forget everything

Today, I forget everything

Aaranmulayile mathilakam gokulamaayitten

Ormmayil theliyenam

The premises of Aranmula

Should appear as Gokulam in my memory

Aviduthe shyamala komala vigraham

Akathaaril ennennum kaanenam

Your beautiful black idol there

I should see in my inner mind always

Aviduthe shyamala komala vigraham

Akathaaril ennennum kaanenam

Your beautiful black idol there

I should see in my inner mind always

Thiruvaaranmula Krishna

Ninnomal thirumukham kanikandu nilkkumbol

Krishna of Aranmula,

While standing,

Seeing your innocent face as *Kani

Enne marakkunnen dukham marakkunnu

Ellaam marakkunnu njaan

Innellaam marakkunnu njaan

I forget myself

I forget my sorrows

I forget everything

Today, I forget everything

Thiruvaaranmula Krishna

Ninnomal thirumukham kanikandu nilkkumbol

Krishna of Aranmula,

While standing,

Seeing your innocent face as *Kani

Enne marakkunnen dukham marakkunnu

Ellaam marakkunnu njaan

Innellaam marakkunnu njaan

I forget myself

I forget my sorrows

I forget everything

Today, I forget everything

A brief note:

Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple, located in Pathanamthitta district is one of the famous Krishna temples of Kerala. It’s one among the 108 temples of Vishnu revered by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars.

This temple is very much linked to Onam season, because of famous boat race. Aranmula Boat Race the oldest river boat festival in Kerala. Temple is dedicated to Krishna & Arjuna, and Krishna known as Parthasarathy. During boat race season, Aranmula boat sadya is prepared, which includes Rice with 68 side dishes; desserts also. No doubt, Aramula Valla Sadya (Aramulla boat feast) is the most grand feast served anywhere in Kerala.

Aranmula is famous for the traditional mirror made using a secret component, known only to a single family. The secret has been passed for many centuries thru generations. Why is Aramula mirror famous? Unlike normal mirrors, Aranmula mirrors reflect the real picture with clarity, & there is no gap between the object and the image. It’s seen as symbol of prosperity. Aramula temple is linked to Sabarimala also. Sacred jewels, Thiruvabharanam of Ayyappan, while taken from Pandalam Palace to Sabarimala during Makara Sankranti season, Aranmula Temple is one of the stops on the way. Golden attire of Ayyappa is kept in this temple. During Mandala kaalam (annual festival season which falls during Nov-Dec), this attire is taken to Sabarimala. It was donated by king of Travancore.

One of the Kerala shrines connected with the legend of Mahabharata, as per belief Dushasana guards eastern Gopuram of the temple.
