Thaliraninjoru Kilimarathile (Chinkara Kinnaram) Song from Minnaram – Lyrics in English with Translation
Thaliraninjoru kilimarathile
Kanimalare vaa
Pookkaalam…Pookkaalam…
The *Kani (first) flower
Of a sprouted tender tree
Please come.
It’s flower season
It’s flower season
Veyiludikkunna vazhiyarikathu
Thanalorukkaan vaa
Aalolam…Thaalolam..
In the pathway where sun shines,
Come to prepare shade,
Slowly.. swinging..
Oru thari kunkumavum
Kunumani chandanavum (F)
With a tint of Kumkum
& A little sandalwood
Polthaalathile ponnaanyangalum
Poomaalyangalum thaa
Thannaanam…Thannaanam…(M)
Give me
Golden coins in gold plate
& Flower garlands
Chinkarakinnaram chirichu konchunna
Manikurunney vaa
Punnaram…Punnaram…
The child, who is smiling beautifully,
Please come with sweet words
Kurumburangumee kurunnu chundathey
Manipathakkam thaa
Ammanam…Ammanam…
With your tender lips, where your mischief is sleeping,
Give me a kiss
Kunjikulirambiliye
Chellacherukumbilile
Mamamamundu minnaram kandu
Minnaminniyaay vaa
Vavavo…Vavavo…
Hey moon, with tender chillness,
Please have the food in the tiny dish,
Watch the beacon & come as firefly
Vavavo Vavavo
Chinkarakinnaram chirichu konchunna
Manikurunney vaa
Punnaram…Punnaram…(M)
The child, who is smiling beautifully,
Please come with sweet words
Kombanaana chantham konde
Kombukuzhal melam konde
Nira nira thinkalaay
Neeyene kaanan vaa (F)
With beauty of a tusker,
& With music of Komb (wind instrument)
Come to see me as full moon
Elakuri chanthum konde
Thirumudi poovum konde
Elaveyil naalampol
Neeyenne pulkaan vaa (M)
With sandalwood paste in banana leaf piece (Prasad),
With flower from royal hair,
Like flame of tender sunlight,
Come to embrace me
Kunjikurikuthiyay nalla
Manja kanikonnayay (F)
Like a *Kunnimani seed
Like yellow *konna flowers
Thamarapoovarimbaay nalla
Thanka kinavoliyay (M)
As the core of lotus flower,
As golden beams of dreams
Melle nallolathalir
Unjalaadunna kunjattakiliyay
Aalolam… Thalolam…(F)
Like a bird swinging in tender coconut leaf
Slowly…swinging..
Chinkarakinnaram chirichu konchunna
Manikurunney vaa
Punnaram…Punnaram…(M)
The child, who is smiling beautifully,
Please come with sweet words
Kurumburangumee kurunnu chundathe
Manipathakkam thaa
Ammanam…Ammanam…(F)
With your tender lips, where your mischief is sleeping,
Give me a kiss
Kuppivala kaiyyal melle
Kurunira maadum neram
Kunukune minniyoo
Swapnamam mantharam (M)
With hands, wearing glass bangles,
While you pat your hair,
Did it suddenly flash,
The dreamy *Mandaram(flower)?
Thodumizhithumbal melle
Thoomani chillolathil
Thodukuri charthiyooo
Manjin mutharam (F)
With beating eye tips,
Slowly in the crystal wave
Did pearl necklace of mist,
Adorn you tilak?
Paadithudichidumbol
Meyy vaadithalarnnidumbol (M)
While enjoying, singing
When body droops
Vaari punarnidumbol
Ullam koritharichidumbol (F)
While you embrace,
When heart horripilates
Mele manjadikkuru
Konnorathoru chindhoorakathiray
Aalolamm…Thalolamm…
Up in the slope of *Manchadi hill,
Red rays are rising (of sun)
Slowly..swinging….
Chinkarakinnaram chirichu konchunna
Manikurunne vaa
Punnaram…Punnaram…
The child, who is smiling beautifully,
Please come with sweet words
Kurumburangumee kurunnu chundathe
Manipathakkam thaa
Ammanam…Ammanam…
With your tender lips, where your mischief is sleeping,
Give me a kiss
Kunjikulirambiliye
Chellacherukumbilile
Mammamamundu minnaram kandu
Minnaminniyay vaa
Vavavo…Vavavo…
Rarirooo…Rarirooo…
Hmmm… Hmmm… (M)
Hey moon, with tender chillness,
Please have the food in the tiny dish,
Watch the beacon & come as firefly
Vavavo Vavavo
Trivia: Priyadarshan’s blockbuster Minnaram (1994) was an uncredited remake of Telugu film Brahmachari (1968), not Hindi. It was remade in Hindi as Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari (1971) starring Mumtaz & Jeetandra and its latest remake is Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2.
