Sweet Potato Halwa

Ingredients for Sweet Potato Halwa:

1. Sweet Potato – 500 gm

2. Ghee – 4 table spoons

3. Mava/Khoa – 200 gm

4. Sugar – 5 tablespoons

5. Cashews, pista and almonds broken – 10 each

6. Cardamom powder – 1 tsp

How to prepare Sweet Potato Halwa?

1. Boil sweet potato, remove the skin and smash it well.

2. Heat 1 table spoon of ghee in a thick bottomed pan.

3. Add the nuts and fry them, and remove them from ghee.

4. In the remaining ghee, add two more tablespoons of ghee.

5. Add smashed sweet potato and sauté it well.

6. After 10-15 minutes, when the colour changes, add Khoa and stir well.

7. Add remaining ghee, sugar and cardamom powder.

8. Keep stirring the halwa for 10 more minutes and add fried nuts.

9. Put off the flame.

Note: Halwa should be prepared in low flame. You can prepare the milk product Khoa at home. Boil full-fat milk in a thick bottomed pan and completely evaporate the water content. You should stir occasionally to avoid sticking to bottom. Water should completely be absorbed and milk forms small particle like structures. You can also buy from super market.
