Savoury Hot Cross Bun

Ingredients for Savoury Hot Cross Bun:

1. Maida – 2 cups

2. Instant yeast – 1 small spoon

    Sugar – 1 small spoon

    Salt – 1 small spoon

    Lukewarm milk – ¾ cup

    Oregano – ¼ small spoon

    Dried basil – ¼ small spoon

    Fresh rosemary chopped – 1 small spoon

3. Butter – 1 big spoon

4. Egg – 1, beaten

5. Sesame seeds – A little

How to prepare Savoury Hot Cross Bun?

1. Blend maida and mix it with ingredients no: 2 to prepare soft dough. It should not be too tight.

2. Knead the dough till it turns soft.

3. Add butter and knead again.

4. Grease a bowl and transfer the contents.

5. Wrap it using a moist towel and allow it to rest for an hour. The dough rises up.

6. When dough reaches double in size transfer it from bowl to a plate.

7. Beat it so that gas escapes and prepare equal sized balls (approximate 15g size).

8. Transfer the balls to a greased baking tray and cover it with a moist cloth.

9. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes. Bun doubles in size.

10. Brush the buns using beaten egg. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

11. Pre-heat oven in 180 degree celsious.

12. Take a little dough, spread it and cut into small strips.

13. Place those strips on buns in cross shapes.

14. Bake the buns in pre-heated oven for 15 minutes very soon. Buns should turn golden brown.

15. Buns will be in golden brown and cross will be in light cream colour.

16. Apply a little butter on its top and serve.
