Rakendu Kiranangal song from Avalude Raavukal – Lyrics in English with Translation

s. janaki malayalam hits

Rakendu kiranangal oli veeshiyillaa

Rajaneekadambangal mizhi chimmiyillaa

Rays of loving moon didn’t show up

Night clouds/stars* didn’t blink their eyes

Madanolsavangalkku niramaala chaarthii

Manavum thanuvum marubhoomiyaayii

To add colors to lust festivals

Soul & body turned desert

Nidraa viheenangalallo ennum

Avalude raavukal ennum avalude raavukal

Deprived of sleep always…

Her nights

Rakendu kiranangal oli veeshiyillaa

Rajaneekadambangal mizhi chimmiyillaa

Rays of loving moon didn’t show up

Night clouds/stars* didn’t blink their eyes

Madanolsavangalkku niramaala chaarthii

Manavum thanuvum marubhoomiyaayii

To add colors to lust festivals

Soul & body turned desert

Nidraa viheenangalallo ennum

Deprived of sleep always…

Her nights

Ennum avalude raavukal

Her nights always….

Aalambamillatha naalil

Aval polumariyaatha neram

When she was all alone

The moment when,

Even she was unaware

Kaalam vannaa kanneerppoovin

Karalinnullil kaliyambeythu

Time came and hit play arrow

Inside the heart of the tear flower

Raavin nenjil kolam thullum

Romaanjamaayaval maari

And she transformed to an excitement

Who dances in the heart of night

Rakendu kiranangal oli veeshiyillaa

Rajaneekadambangal mizhi chimmiyillaa

Rays of loving moon didn’t show up

Night clouds/stars* didn’t blink their eyes

Madanolsavangalkku niramaala chaarthii

Manavum thanuvum marubhoomiyaayii

To add colors to lust festivals

Soul & body turned desert

Nidraa viheenangalallo ennum

Deprived of sleep always…

Her nights

Ennum avalude raavukal

Her nights always….

Aarorumariyaathe paavam

Aareyo dhyaanichu mookam

Secretly, that silly girl,

Thought about someone, silently

Kaalam vannaa poojaabimbam

Kaanikkayaay kaazhcha vechu

Time came and offered/presented that –

Worshiping idol as gift

Nirmaalyam kondaaraadhikkaan

Aakaatheyannaval ninnuu

Unable to worship through *Nirmalyam offering

She stood numb

Rakendu kiranangal oli veeshiyillaa

Rajaneekadambangal mizhi chimmiyillaa

Rays of loving moon didn’t show up

Night clouds/stars* didn’t blink their eyes

Madanolsavangalkku niramaala chaarthii

Manavum thanuvum marubhoomiyaayii

To add colors to lust festivals

Soul & body turned desert

Nidraa viheenangalallo ennum

Deprived of sleep always…

Her nights

Ennum avalude raavukal

Her nights always….

Trivia: The album had three songs composed by A. T. Ummer. Yesudas’ solo – “Antharindriya Daahangal” and two solos of Janaki, “Rakendu Kirangal” and “Unni Aarariro“, which were extremely popular for their melodious tunes and renditions. Unfortunately, both the solos of Janaki were copied from Bollywood songs of 1970s. “Rakendu Kirangal” was a direct lift of Lata Mangeshkar’s popular song – Pal Bhar Mein from Swamy, released one year prior to Avalude Ravukal. The song was filmed on Shabana Azmi. The popular lullaby of Janaki, “Unni Aarariro” is yet another direct lift of a solo rendition of Lata Mangeshkar, composed by R. D. Burman for Jheel Ke Us Paar released in 1973. It’s a less-heard sad track, “Kah Rahe Hain Yeh Ansoo” filmed on Mumtaz. Needless to say, Malayalam lullaby was extremely popular when got released. As far as I know, this is the 1st Malayalam film A-certified. Movie was done by a leading director with mainstream actors, but with a bold content. Later the director IV Sasi married the lead heroine, Seema, who debuted with this cult classic.
