Raghu Dixit – Folk rock singer and composer of Sandalwood and Bollywood

Raghu Dixit is a music composer, musician and singer associated with films and independent music. He also owns a folk music band, Raghu Dixit Project, which performs in multiple languages. His wife Mayuri Upadhya is a dance choreographer associated with theatre productions. He also appears as a guest composer in films, composing singles or a few songs, and till now has worked in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi language films. As a composer he marked his debut with 2008 Kannada film, Psycho. He excelled as a folk rock singer and composer.

Raghu Dixit was born in Mysore, Karnataka. He started off with independent music before he branched to films. He was not interested in music right from childhood, and got drawn to it at the age of 20 when he got a guitar. Since 2008 he is associated with film industry, and is regular with his live performances as well. Gully Boy, Bewakoofiyaan, Mujhse Fraandship Karoge and Chef are some of his works as a composer in Bollywood. Happy New Year, Kote, Just Math Mathalli and Psycho are his works in Kannada film industry.

1. His full name is Raghupathi Dwarakanath Dixit.

2. His music band has performed more than 300 concerts across India and abroad, and Antaragni: The Fire Within was his debut album, launched in 2008.

3. With the storm of #MeToo campaign in 2018, Raghu Dixit was also named among the predators, for which he apologized.

4. In 2018 he composed two songs – “Aararo” and “Paranne” for the popular movie Koode marking his debut as a composer in Malayalam film industry, and has earlier rendered his voice for “Porumo” song for North 24 Kaatham in 2013.
