Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil – Congress Politician from Maharashtra
Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. He is affiliated to Indian National Congress. He is the son of prominent politician, social worker and former Union Minister, Balasaheb Vikhe Patil who has been honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2010. Currently he serves as the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Patil has been elected to state assembly multiple times and he has also served as cabinet minister twice.
Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil was born into a family with strong political and social background. His grandfather Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil was an Industrialist who founded the first sugar factory in the cooperative sector in India. Government of India honoured him with Padma Shri in 1961. Following the footsteps of his father Balasaheb Vikhe Patil he too reached state level politics as a Congress leader and succeeded as well. He is married to Shalinitai Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and the couple has one son.

1. Patil served as the Minister of Educational and Transportation in the Government led by Ashok Chavan and Minister of Agriculture and Marketing in the state government led by Prithviraj Chavan.
2. His brother Ashok Vikhe Patil is a leading educationalist and his niece Nila Vikhe Patil has served as advisor to Stefan Lofven during his term as Sweden’s Prime Minister.
3. He represents Sirdi constituency since 2009 and has been elected in 2014 state assembly elections too.
4. Both his father and grandfather were Padma award recipients.
