Pomegranate Ada Pradhaman

Ingredients for Pomegranate Ada Pradhaman:

1. Pomegranate seeds – 1 cup

2. Payasam rice (Unakkalari) – 1 cup, powdered

3. Sugar – 1 big spoon

    Coconut oil – A small spoon

4. Banana leaves – As required to prepare ada

5. Milk – ½ litre

    Sugar – ¾ cup

6. Pomegranate seeds – 1 big spoon

    Ghee – 1 big spoon

    Cashews – A few (optional)

How to prepare Pomegranate Ada Pradhaman?

1. Add a little water to pomegranate and grind in a mixer.

2. Strain pomegranate juice from it.

3. Mix rice flour with pomegranate juice, sugar and coconut oil.

4. Spread this batter in the back side of banana leaves as a thin layer.

5. Fold it once to completely cover the batter and tie using banana fibres.

6. Immerse these packets completely in boiling water.

7. Boil the contents till adas are cooked well.

8. Once done, remove them from banana leaves and wash them in cold water.

9. Chop them into small square pieces.

10. Heat a thick bottomed pan and boil ½ litre milk.

11. Add sugar and continue cooking till milk turns light yellow colour.

12. Add ada and keep cooking till payasam thickens.

13. Fry pomegranate seeds in hot ghee and add to payasam. Add raw/fried cashews too.

14. Serve your Pomegranate Ada Pradhaman warm.
