Okra Mezhukkupuratti (Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti)

Ingredients for Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti:

1. Tender okra – 250 gm

2. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

3. Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

4. Garlic – 3 or 4 cloves, crushed

5. Turmeric powder – A pinch

    Coriander powder – 1 small spoon

6. Chilli powder – As required

    Salt – For taste

How to prepare Vendakka Mezhukkupuratti?

1. Wash okras and remove moisture completely using a cloth.

2. Cut them into 1-inch pieces.

3. Heat oil in a pan and sputter cumin seeds.

4. Add crushed garlic and sauté for a while.

5. When raw smell goes out and pleasant smell appears, add okra pieces.

6. Okra pieces should be coated with oil.

7. Spread okras in pan so that the mucilage of okras goes out. (If u keep stirring, mucilage will be there).

8. Add turmeric powder and coriander powder, followed by chilli powder and salt.

9. Mix only slowly so that okra pieces won’t smash.

10. Cook in low flame. Add extra oil if needed.

11. Cook till okra pieces are coated with a thin layer of gravy.

Note: You can add cooked rice to the pan, and mix well to get tasty variant of rice.
