Mohit Raina – Hindi Film and Television Actor of ‘Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev’ fame

Mohit Raina is a very successful Hindi television actor who gained immense popularity portraying mythological characters on small screen. He shot to fame playing the lead role of Siva in TV series, ‘Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev’ and also Mahabharat. Though he has done popular roles such as Chehra, Ganga Kii Dheej etc he is best known as ‘Lord Siva of small screen’. In 2019 he made his Bollywood debut with Uri – The Surgical Strike and web series debut with Kaafir. He has earlier done a brief role in 2009 movie, Don Muthu Swami. Ashoka in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat and Havildar Ishar Singh in 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897 are his other popular roles.

Mohit Raina was born in Jammu in 1982. As a teenager he weighed 107 kilograms. To pursue a career in modelling, he reduced his weight and moved to Mumbai, where he participated in 2005 Grasim Mister India modelling contest. He finished at position 5 in the contest. 2005 show Meher marked his debut in a supporting role. It was following by his supporting roles in Bhabhi, Chehra, Bandini etc.

He got the big break when he was offered the lead role of Lord Siva in Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, and he rose to stardom. He got Best actor (Jury) award at Indian Telly Awards 2013 and Best Actor at Star Guild Awards 2015 for his role in Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev. Among the three heroines his chemistry with Sonarika Bhadoria was appreciated most.

Mohit Raina – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. He had obesity problems during his childhood days, and reduced 29 kilos to pursue a career in modelling.

2. He has been linked with his co-actress Mouni Roy with whom he worked in Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev. But Mohit denied the rumours.

3. His lead role as Havildar Ishar Singh in the historical period series, 21 Sarfarosh – Saragarhi 1897 was reprised by Akshay Kumar for its big screen version – Kesari in 2019.

4. He played the pivot role of Vicky Kaushal’s brother-in-law in 2019 blockbuster, Uri – The Surgical Strike.

5. The actor who earned fame portraying Siva on small screen is a devotee of Siva in real life.
