Mohammad Samad – Bollywood young actor of ‘Tumbbad’ and ‘Chhichhore’ fame

Mohammad Samad is a promising young actor associated with Bollywood. He is best known for playing teenager roles in critically acclaimed and hit films – ‘Tumbbad’ and ‘Chhichhore’, released back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. He played the pivot roles in both these films, as the greedy young son of Vinayak Rao (played by Sohum Shah) in ‘Tumbbad’ and teenage son of Sushant Rajput Singh and Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Chhichhore’, who attempts suicide following his failure in IIT entrance exams. He started his career in 2008 as a child artist and has done just 5 roles till 2019. All these 5 films – Firaaq, Gattu, Haramchor, Tumbbad and Chhichhore were critically acclaimed.

Mohammad Samad was born into a middle-class family in Roorkee of Uttarakhand on 7 May 2000. His parents run a grocery shop in Roorkee. He is the youngest of 6 siblings, and his parents faced financial troubles to raise the big family. He completed his schooling from his hometown. He marked his acting debut with Firaaq in 2008, where he played young Mohsin. He was 8 years old then. It was followed by his memorable performance in Gattu in 2012. After a short break, he returned to Bollywood in 2017 and has acted in three films. All those roles got noticed.

1. He played the lead role in the web series ‘Selection Day’ on Netflix.

2. He played the titular role in Bollywood film, Gattu, which was shown at many international film festivals.

3. He won the Best Child Actor Award at the 12th New York Indian Film Festival, for his lead role in Gattu.

4. He loves travelling and playing guitar. He loves cats.

5. In 2015 he acted in a Punjabi short film, Mast Qalander, where he essayed the role of Montek.

6. He is a die-hard fan of Salman Khan since childhood days.
