15+ Simple tips to care your eyes

Now most of us are spending hours before computer. Earlier it was the case of television, now it’s personal computer, laptops or mobiles. Most of us spend hours before computer either at home or at office. As we people less care about our health, it gives wrong signals to eye problems. Just follow these simple tips and see its results.

1. Monitor should be at least one hand distant from your eyes. Adjust the monitor settings such that it gives fewer disturbances to your eyes.

2. Avoid continuous use of computers. Take a short break for a simple walk at least once in every 2 hours.

3. If you are working continuously, after every 20 minutes give a short break to your eyes. Let me suggest you a simple exercise you can do this time. After every 20 minutes, turn your neck left or right. Then look at an object for 20 seconds placed at least 20 feet away from your eyes. This simple exercise will surely reduce stress of your eyes and blocks several eye damages.

4. Normally our eyes blink 12 times in every minute. While we are using computer, eye blinks reduces to 5 every minute and it dries our eyes. If you blink your eyes 20 times every 20 minutes you can keep your eyes moist.

5. Wash your eyes at intervals using cold water. It refreshes your mind as well as your eyes. It’s a healthy habit for eye health too. Cold water stimulates eye nerves easily increasing blood circulation thus providing eye health and less stress to eyes in return.

6. While you go out, use sun glasses. It protects your eyes from UV rays.

7. Never throw away used tea bags. Instead keep them in refrigerator. Close your eyes and place tea bag on your eye lids for 10-15 minutes. It stimulates eye nerves giving you refreshment. You can do it morning or evening according to your convenience. It reduces swelling of your eye lids too.

8. Place cucumber slices on your eye lids with eyes closed. It gives refreshment to your eyes, removes its tiredness as well as completely removes that black colour around your eyes too. Potato slices too can give almost the same effect.

9. You should assure that your eyes get sufficient rest. Rub both your hands together. Then place them above your eye lids. It reduces tiredness of your eyes a lot.

10. Vitamin A, C and E are best for eye health and vision. Leafy vegetables, vegetables – particularly of green, orange and red colours and fruits should form a part of your diet. Carrot, mango, beet root, spinach, orange, lemon and milk products are best for your eye health, and improves vision too.

11. Keep at least 3.5 metre distance from TV screen. Restrict kids from viewing television, sitting very near to it. 

12. Room should have light enough while watching television, or using computers and mobiles.

13. Teach kids never to rub eyes; it’s an unhealthy practice. Also dust particles stick on to hands can reach eyes easily.

13. Ultraviolet protect glasses are best for eyes. Also keep your spectacles and cooling glasses free of dust and dirt.

14. Writing kohl in kids’ eyes is not a healthy practice, though it’s a part of our tradition. If you can’t avoid it, prepare natural kohl at home.

15. If you work for long hours before computers, use some eye lubricant to prevent your eyes from drying. Seek an eye doctor’s opinion before choosing a lubricant for eyes.
