Ishita Dutta – Bollywood and television actress of ‘Drishyam’ fame

Ishita Dutta is a Hindi actress who appears in Bollywood films and TV soaps. She is best known for playing Ajay Devgan’s adopted daughter in hit crime thriller – Drishyam (2015). Ek Ghar Banaunga is her most popular TV show, which marked her small screen debut in 2013. She has appeared in a few south Indian movies before joining Bollywood. She is the younger sister of Bollywood actress and Miss India 2005 –Tanushree Dutta, who appeared in movies like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Raqeeb etc. She is married to actor Vatsal Seth of Taarzan: The Wonder Car fame.

She worked in south Indian films before ‘Drishyam’ happened  

Ishita Dutta was born in Jamshedpur, then a part of Bihar in 1990. She belongs to a conservative Bengali Hindu family. Following her sister’s footsteps, she too reached entertainment world. In 2012 she marked her screen debut through Telugu movie, Chanakyudu and appeared in one more movie, Yenidu Manasali same year. In 2015 she marked her Kannada debut in a lead role through comedy movie, Raja Rajendra directed by Pon Kumaran. The movie fared well at box office.

She was a television actress before joining Bollywood

Very soon she got her first Hindi television role – Ek Ghar Banaunga in a lead role, which she accepted. The show was aired on Star Plus for more than a year. Drishyam gave her the first break to Bollywood. After the movie’s success she got offers from both big and small screen. Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar, Kaun Hai?, Bepanah Pyaar etc are some of her TV appearances. She occasionally makes guest appearance in Tv shows, and was a guest at Bigg Boss 13.

She played lead roles in Bollywood flicks – Blank, Setters, Firangi etc, and still waiting for her big break in Bollywood.

Ishita Dutta – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. She completed Media Studies in Mumbai, before joining acting.

2. Yenidu Manasali was an announced Telugu project by Niyaaz Ahmed which got shelved. Ishita was to work with her sister in this movie.

3. She learnt south Indian language a little bit to work in Telugu and Kannada movies.

4. Her husband Vatsal Seth played Ajay Devgan’s son in his debut flick, Taarzan: The Wonder Car. Ishita played Ajay Devgan’s adopted daughter in her debut flick, Drishyam; a strange co-incidence.

5. She dated Vatsal Seth for a long time before getting secretly married in 2017, function attended by close friends and a few actors. They met for the first time in the sets of Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar in 2016, where both played lead roles.

6. Vatsal once saved Ishita from a mishap in the sets of Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar when her sari stuck in a fan. This heroic act impressed Ishita, and love blossomed between the two. However both kept their relation under wraps till marriage.

7. In original version of Drishyam as well as its other south Indian remakes, Ishita’s character played real daughter to the lead hero. However in Hindi version only, her character was placed as an adoptive daughter.
