Chimmini Appam

Ingredients for Chimmini Appam:

1. Maida – ½ kg

    Ghee – 2 small spoons

2. Egg – 1

    Lemon juice – 1 small spoon

    Water and salt – As required

    Sugar – ½ small spoon, dissolved in a little milk

3. Sesame seeds – 2 small spoons

    Cumin seeds – 1 small spoon

How to prepare Chimmini Appam?

1. Blend maida and then mix it with ghee without forming lumps.

2. Add ingredients no: 2 to it and prepare soft dough.

3. Finally add sesame and cumin seeds and mix it again.

4. Divide the dough into three equal parts.

5. Using a rolling pin spread each of them in the rolling board.

6. You can spread a little flour to make the process easy.

7. Cut desired shapes such as diamonds from them. You can also bring creativity in shapes.

8. Deep fry them in hot oil. Fry them as soon as you spread them.

9. You can serve it as such or a sweet snack, by adding sugar vilayichath, or sprinkling sugar.

To prepare sugar vilayichath – Boil 1.5 cup sugar in ¾ cup water. Add ½ small spoon cardamom powder to it and add fried Chimmini Appam. Toss Chimmini Appam with this sugar solution gently without breaking it. Put off the flame. When it cools you can store in air-tight containers.
