Ingredients for Chakka Puzhukk:

1. Well ripen raw jackfruit – 1/4th

2. Red beans (Vanpayar) – ¼ kg

3. Salt – For taste

4. Coconut – 1, scrapped

5. Coconut oil – 3 big spoons

How to prepare Chakka Puzhukk?

1. Soak red beans overnight.

2. Clean jackfruit and remove seeds and the waste parts.

3. Chop jackfruit florets into small pieces.

4. Cook red beans in an earthen pot adding sufficient water.

5. When it is 3/4th done, add chopped jackfruit and salt.

6. Mix the contents well and close the lid while cooking.

7. When the ingredients are well cooked add scrapped coconut.

8. Mix the contents well and take your Puzhukk from flame.

9. Pour coconut oil, mix well and close the lid.

10. You can serve Chakka Puzhukk after 10 minutes.

11. If needed, you can add 2 or 3 chopped green chillies to make it spicy.

Chakka Puzhukk (Recipe 2)

Ingredients for Chakka Puzhukk (Recipe 2):

1. Raw jackfruit chopped – 2 cups

    Jackfruit seeds sliced – ½ cup

2. Water – As needed

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

    Chilli powder – ½ small spoon

    Pepper powder -1/4 small spoon

    Salt – As needed

3. Coconut scrapped – ¾ cup

    Shallots – 6

    Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

    Green chillies – 4

4. Coconut oil – 1 big spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stem

How to prepare Chakka Puzhukk (Recipe 2)?

1. Wash jackfruit flesh and seeds and cook it adding ingredients no: 2.

2. Crush ingredients no: 3 together.

3. When jackfruit is well cooked, add crushed coconut mixture to it.

4. Mix it well and cook again.

5. Add coconut oil and curry leaves.

6. Mix your Chakka Puzhukk using a spatula and put the flame off.

7. Serve hot.
