Chakka Erisseri with Sambar Paripp

Ingredients for Chakka Erisseri with Sambar Paripp:

1. Pigeon pea (Sambar paripp/Toor dal) – 150 gm

2. Raw jackfruit well ripen – ½ of medium sized

3. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Pepper powder – 1 small spoon

    Salt – For taste

4. Coconut – 2, scrapped

5. Cumin seeds – 1 big spoon

6. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

7. Mustard – 1 small spoon

8. Red chillies – 4

How to prepare Chakka Erisseri with Sambar Paripp?

1. Chop jackfruit florets into small pieces.

2. Cook dal adding 1 litre water.

3. Add jackfruit to dal along with ingredients no: 3 and cook it well.

4. When it’s done, smash it using a spatula.

5. Make a fine paste of half the amount of scrapped coconut and cumin seeds.

6. Add this paste to cooked jackfruit and allow to boil well.

7. When it’s done put off the flame.

8. Heat oil and sputter mustard seeds.

9. Fry red chillies and add remaining quantity of scrapped coconut.

10. Keep frying till coconut turns golden brown.

11. Pour this mixture to Jackfruit Erisseri and mix well.

12. You can serve it with plain rice or Vishu Congee.
