Sheetal Sheth – American actress of ‘The World Unseen’ fame

Sheetal Sheth is an award winning American actress and producer of Gujarat origin. Her parents migrated to US in the early 1970s and Sheetal was born in 1976. She played lead role aside opposite Lisa Ray in two lesbian themed films, I Can’t Think Straight and The World Unseen, both directed by Shamim Sarif, and her roles in both were well-appreciated. It also helped her to earn a huge fan base and the movies achieved cult status. Sheetal is a winner of three international awards in best actress category, and she won the awards for the films – The World Unseen and Wings Of Hope. She has been a part of several award winning films, and most of her films were showcased at international film festivals.

Sheetal Sheth was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Since the age of 12, she grew up in Trenton. Since school days she was interested in drama and sports, and she just loved basketball. She also studied multicultural dance. Her professional career as an actress began in 1999 with the film ABCD, and now owns two decades of experience in this field. She has been a part of a few TV series also. Her roles in American Chai and Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World gave her early break in acting, and her breakthrough role came in 2007 with the film, The World Unseen. She is currently most active in television.

1. She was born into a Jain family.

2. She was also the first Indian American to appear in Maxim magazine.

3. She shot a few episodes for NBC TV series The Singles Table which would have marked her television debut. But those episodes were not aired.

4. She won three Best Actress awards for her performance in The World Unseen.

5. She has been the spokesperson for CHI hair care products.
