Niveditha Arjun alias Asha Rani – Kannada film actress best known for her lead role in ‘Ratha Sapthami’
Niveditha Arjun, credited as Asha Rani in Kannada releases is a former south Indian actress. She is a film producer and dancer too. She is best known as the wife of popular actor Arjun Sarja and daughter-in-law of yesterdays’ screen villain Shakti Prasad. She is the daughter of popular Kannada actor of yesterdays, Rajesh. Actress Aishwarya Arjun is the daughter of Arjun Sarja and Niveditha Arjun. Niveditha had a brief journey in south Indian films before she settled with her family life and is best known for her debut flick, Ratha Sapthami, which was a blockbuster.
Niveditha Arjun was born into a filmy family in Karnataka. Born as the daughter of Kannada film actor, Rajesh, she too joined cine world in 1986. She was paired with Shiva Rajkumar for M. S. Rajashekar’s Ratha Sapthami, which was a huge hit. She later appeared in a few more Kannada and Tamil films, but those roles went unnoticed. After her marriage with Arjun, she said goodbye to acting and shifted her base to Chennai. She has two daughters – Aishwarya Arjun, an actress and Anjana Arjun, a fashion designer based in New York. She is associated with Arjun’s home production company, Sree Raam Films International.
Niveditha Arjun – Some interesting and less-known facts
1. Her debut flick, Ratha Sapthami, a blockbuster was later remade to Tamil titled ‘Love Birds’ starring Prabhudeva and Nagma, and to Hindi titled ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’, which marked screen debut of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel. This single film made Hrithik an overnight sensation.
2. She was credited as Asha Rani in movies.
3. She is currently busy with her dancing career, and is a film producer too. She is a trained classical dancer and live performer on stage.
4. Married into the Sarja film family, actors – Chiranjeevi Sarja and Dhruva Sarja are her nephews. Thus she is related to actress Meghana Raj, and her actor parents, Sundar Raj and Pramila Joshai.
5. Her brother-in-law Arjun Sarja was a Kannada film director, who had a short span in cine world before he passed away in his middle ages in 2009.
6. Following the shocking allegations made by Vismaya actress Sruthi Hariharan on Arjun in 2018 as a part of #MeToo Movement, she stood with her husband as his pillar of support.
