Beef Biryani

Ingredients for Beef Biryani:

1. Biryani rice – 3.5 cups

2. Ghee – ½ cup

3. Cinnamon – 1 piece

    Cloves – 6

    Cardamom – 6

4. Salt – As required

5. Hot water – 7 cups

For beef masala:

6. Beef – 1 kg, cut into 2-inch pieces

7. Oil – ½ cup

8. Ginger-garlic paste – 4 big spoons

9. Onions – 2 big, sliced thin

    Green chillies split – 10

    Tomato – 2, cut into small pieces

10. Chilli powder – 1.5 small spoons

     Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

     Garam masala powder – 1 small spoon

11. Coriander leaves – 100 gm, chopped

      Mint leaves – 50 gms, chopped

     Curd – ¼ cup

     Salt – As required

To set biryani:

12. Ghee – A little

13. Garam masala powder – 1 small spoon

      Onions – 2, small sliced and fried till golden brown

How to prepare Beef Biryani?

1. Wash rice and drain off excess water.

2. Heat ghee and splutter ingredients no: 3.

3. Add rice and fry for 5 minutes.

4. Add salt and hot water and allow to boil.

5. Close the lid and cook in low flame.

6. When rice is well cooked, water content should be fully absorbed.

7. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and sauté ginger-garlic paste.

8. Add ingredients no: 9 and sauté well the contents.

9. When it’s done, mix with ingredients no: 10.

10. When a pleasant aroma comes out, add ingredients no: 11 and sauté for a while.

11. Add beef to it along with sufficient water.

12. Cook the ingredients in pressure cooker.

13. Wait till pressure drops to zero.

14. Open the lid and if water is found in excess, cook in high flame till water content is fully absorbed and beef turns dry.

15. Take a thick bottomed vessel to set biryani and apply a thin coat of ghee.

16. Spread half amount of beef mixture in the vessel as one layer.

17. Spread half amount of cooked rice as layer two.

18. Spread half the quantity of ingredients no: 13.

19. Then layer the remaining beef and rice as next layers respectively.

20. Spread garam masala and remaining fried onions.

21. Close the lid and cook for 5 more minutes.
