Anya Singh – Bollywood and Telugu film actress of ‘Qaidi Band’ fame

Anya Singh is an Indian film actress who appears in Bollywood and South Indian films. She made her debut through less-known film, Lex Talionis (2016) in a minor role and got noticed through Yash Raj Films’ Qaidi Band (2017). The movie which marked her Bollywood debut in a lead role was a flop at box office. Later she joined south Indian cinema and marked her Telugu debut through 2019 horror thriller, Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene opposite Sundeep Kishan. The movie opened to negative reviews and fared only average at box office. In 2020 she marked her web series debut with Never Kiss Your Bestfriend.

Anya Singh was born in 1992 and she hails from Delhi. She pursued her graduation at Delhi and came to Mumbai in 2015. She started giving auditions, and had a tough time and a lot of frustrations when things didn’t work in her favour. One day she met Shanoo Sharma, casting director of YRF at a coffee shop, who asked her to give an audition.

She was auditioned for 2.5 months before she was zeroed for her first Bollywood film. Thus she got her major break through Habib Faisal’s Qaidi Band (2017). She was launched by Yash Raj Films through this musical drama, and she played lead role aside debutante Aadar Jain. The movie’s failure disheartened her a lot, and it couldn’t help her career further. She took a small break from industry due to some personal reasons.

After a couple of years she joined Telugu cinema through Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene in a lead role, and thus belongs to a long list of Bollywood heroines who moved towards south. In 2020 she appeared in ZEE5’s web-series ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’, which also stars Nakuul Mehta.

Anya Singh – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. She has done theatre at school, and has been a performer on stage.

2. Travelling is her favourite hobby.

3. Ranveer Singh is her favourite actor, and she wants to work him in future. In fact both with non-filmy background were launched to Bollywood by Yash Raj Films.

4. Her Qaidi Band co-star Aadar Jain is a cousin of Ranbir Kapoor. He was also launched by YRF through Qaidi Band.

5. She lost her father two months after the release of Qaidi Band, and her mother also became sick. So she decided to stay back for a while, and took a break from entertainment industry. She returned to films in 2019 after a brief hiatus.

6. When Yash Raj Talent announced her as their next find, she became one of the top searched persons in India.
