Vaishnavi Venugopal – Malayalam film actress who played Mottachi in ‘June’

Vaishnavi Venugopal also known as Vaishnavi is a budding young actress associated with Malayalam cinema, who gained recognition through her debut flick, June released in 2019. She was one among the 16 newcomers of the romantic film, which was a box office hit. She played Rajisha’s best friend Abhirami / Mottachi in the film and her full-length role was well received. She is the niece of famous director Jayaraj. June is not her first screen appearance. She played a brief role of a traditional girl in Jayaraj’s film, Bhayanakam. She appeared in a few ads after the release of June.

Vaishnavi Venugopal hails from Manarkad, Kottayam. She belongs to a family of movie buffs, where film discussion is quite common. Acclaimed film director Jayaraj is her mother’s sibling. Thus since young cinema is at short distance from her. Though her uncle invited her multiple times to act in his films, she never said ‘yes’. At that time she felt that it was too early. Her entry to ‘June’ was so unexpected. Its director Ahammed Khabeer is her friend and also a native of her hometown. The director used to share with her the important events associated with the film including the selection of female lead. Even at that point of time, she never thought that she would become a part of it.

Just two days before workshop of the movie, the director suggested her to do the role of Mottachi in the movie, as he felt that she would be perfect for it. As she was well acquainted with film crew, she didn’t think too much before saying yes to the project. Her father Venugopal passed away 5 years before she accepted her first full-fledged role. Her mother Ajitha is a housewife.

Vaishnavi Venugopal – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. Before the shooting of ‘June’ started, she had a little bit lengthy hair. She shortened her hair to fit into the role of Mottachi. Though she loves short hair, her mother became sad after she cut the hair.

2. Fahadh Fasil is her favourite hero in Malayalam films.

3. Her cousin Dhanu (Jayaraj’s daughter) is her best friend.

4. She holds a graduation degree in Journalism, and plans to do either interior designing or sociology for PG.

5. After graduation she worked in Mumbai for a short period. When she got bored she returned to hometown. June happened very soon.

6. Shopping is her best hobby and she owns a good collection of footwear and lipstick.

7. She is an outgoing person who easily befriends others. Yet she is a little bit reluctant to begin a new task. After ice breaks she easily adjusts to the new situation.
