Sruthi Lakshmi – Malayalam film and television actress of ‘Pokkuveyil’ fame

Sruthi Lakshmi is a Malayalam actress, who predominantly works in television. She has also played noted character roles on Malayalam big screen since 2000. She started her film journey as a child artist before promoting to adult roles with 2007 film Romeo, where she played one of the three female leads opposite Dileep. She is immensely popular for her television roles and received Kerala state television award for best actress in 2016 for her lead role in Pokkuveyil. She has also appeared as a child artist in television shows in the early 2000s. She has been a part of several reality shows as a contestant as well as judge.

Sruthi Lakshmi was born in Kannur in 1986 into a Christian family. Her real name is Sruthi Jose. Tv serial Nizhalukal aired on Asianet in 2000 marked her acting debut, and she appeared in a few films and tv shows. Varnakkazchchakal was her first film release as a child artist, followed by Swayamvara Panthal, Swarna Medal, Maanikyan etc. Romeo in 2007 was her first film in a lead role where she played a traditional girl. It was followed by supporting roles in Hotel California, Love In Singapore, College Kumaran etc. Though she played lead roles in a few movies, all those films flopped at box office. She gained recognition through the television shows.

1. Her elder sister Sreelaya has appeared in a few Malayalam movies like Kutteem Kolum and also a few TV shows like Moonumani in a lead role.

2. She shared screen space with her sister for the TV soap, Thenum Vayambum.

3. Her mother Lissy Jose is an actress. 

4. She played lead roles in Romeo, Aazhakadal, Pachuvum Kovalanum and Swantham Bharya Zindabad.

5. She used to accompany her mother to television sets, and that’s how she bagged her first child artist role in Nizhalukal. It was followed by ‘Nakshathrangal’, ‘Chitralekha’ and ‘Detective Anand’ as a child artist before she took a small break to concentrate on to studies. 

6. She is a trained classical dancer.
