Abu Malik – Music composer and organizer of live musical shows

Abu Malik is a composer best known as a businessman and an organizer of live shows in India and abroad with more than 10000 live shows to his credit. He is also a writer who penned a book named ‘Rantings of a Madman‘. He is the son of Bollywood composer of yesterdays – Sardar Malik and nephew of legendary Bollywood lyricist and Urdu poet Hasrat Jaipuri. Both his brothers – Anu Malik and Daboo Malik are famous names in Bollywood music industry, best known as composers. He is the uncle to Anmol Malik, Amaal Malik and Armaan Malik – third generation of musicians associated with Bollywood music of present times. Abu Malik came to limelight in 2019 after he became one of the celebrity contestants of Sony TV’s Bigg Boss Season – 13.

Abu Malik was born into a musical family in Mumbai. He inherited music from his father, Sardar Malik, one of the early music directors of Bollywood music since late 1940s, and took musical lessons from him. His elder brother Anu Malik is a very established music composer of 1990s.While both his brothers took to music direction as full-time profession, Abu was mostly interested in arranging musical live shows in India and abroad. As a successful businessman and event manager, till now he arranged more than 10000 musical shows in India and abroad combined. This musician is known to be the guru of live performances.

1. He is the nephew of famous Urdu poet and lyricist, Hasrat Jaipuri. His mother Kausar Jahan is the sibling of Jaipuri.

2. His surname ‘Malik’ is actually a pseudonym which was inherited by his father from his maternal family, which was later followed by Malik brothers and next generation.

3. His family is related to Ghulam Hassan Shaggan, Pakistani classical music singer of the Gwalior Gharana.

4. He turned his Whatsapp chats into a book and published as ‘Rantings of a Madman‘. The book was unveiled by his elder brother Anu Malik.

5. His son Adaar Malik is a standup comedian.

6. His niece Anmol Malik (daughter of Anu Malik) is a playback singer, lyricist, composer and independent musician.

7. His nephews (Sons of Daboo Malik) – Amaal Malik is a Bollywood music composer and playback singer while Armaan Malik is a playback singer and actor.

8. He shared screen space with Salman Khan in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and has worked in less-known movies like Bad Luck Govind, Kismat Bole Toh..etc.
