A brief note on upcoming actress Sunu Lakshmi

Sunu Lakshmi is a film actress associated with south Indian film industry. She is of Kerala origin, yet predominantly works in Tamil movies. She made her debut as a child artist through popular Malayalam TV series, ‘Kadamattathu Kathanar’. Later she appeared in the tele-film ‘Shakunam’ with actors Murali and Urmila Unni which was aired on Doordarshan. She marked her film debut with 2009 Tamil film, Sirithal Rasipen and in the past 1 decade or so, she has done around 10 Tamil films so far, and one Malayalam movie, Snehamulloral Koodeyullappol in 2014.

Sunu Lakshmi was born on 27 October 1991 in Ernakulum, Kerala. She is one among those Malayalam actresses who found foot in Tamil film industry. She is a trained dancer and marked her acting debut through Malayalam TV shows as a child artist. Later she bagged her first telefilm, ‘Shakunam’ while she was studying in class 9. ‘Sirithen Rasithen’ by Chandrasekhar was her first film in Kollywood. She later appeared in Tamil movies, Sengathu Bhoomiyile, Eppothum Vendral, Touring Talkies, Aramm, Saavi and Dharavi.

Though she has been regular in Tamil films, mostly in supporting roles, she earned recognition in the recent times only. Her role as Sumathi in Nayanthara starrer super hit film, Aramm was well received. The role shot her to instant fame and made her a recognizable face in Tamil cinema. Apart from a noted actress, she is a trained classical dancer too. She has been training under Thara Kalyan for more than a decade. She played a bold Christian girl in the film, ‘Eppothum Vendral’. Sunu Lakshmi played Jayakodi, a village belle in M Rathnakumar’s ‘Sengathu Bhoomiyile’.
