Shivaleeka Oberoi – Bollywood actress of ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’ fame

Shivaleeka Oberoi is an upcoming actress of Bollywood cinema, who marked her Bollywood debut with romantic thriller, ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’. Her lead role with negative shades earned her appreciation as well as a nomination at Filmfare awards for best female debut. She started her career as an assistant director at the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment productions in 2014, worked in a couple of projects before bagging her debut acting role. Khuda Haafiz is her upcoming flick, where she is being paired with Vidyut Jammwal.

She has links to Bollywood, though not so strong

Shivaleeka Oberoi was born in Mumbai in 1995 into a business family. Her mother is a teacher. She is of Punjabi origin. Her grandfather has produced a Bollywood film Sheba and Hercules in 1967. But he had passed away at a young age. After schooling she studied English and Psychology from University of Mumbai. During her academic years she did a 3-month diploma course from Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares acting institute and later made a Bollywood entry as an assistant director.

She started her Bollywood journey as an assistant director

After graduation she joined Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, and worked as an assistant director for the movies, Kick (2014) and Housefull 3 (2016). After that she started her modelling career, and also started giving film auditions. She got her first break to films through ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’, which was the launching project of Amrish Puri Films. She was paired with Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan Puri.

Shivaleeka Oberoi – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. Her grandfather produced Sheba And Hercules (1967). While producing his second movie he passed away, and hence Shivaleeka don’t own strong Bollywood connections. Her father was 17 then.

2. As per rumours she got engaged with TV actor Karam Rajpal. Later she denied the reports.

3. She is a big Kareena Kapoor fan, and is nicknamed ‘Poo’, Kareena’s character name in K3G.

4. She was only 16 when she enrolled at Anupam Kher’s acting institute and she was the youngest member of the batch then.

5. Sajid Nadiadwala’s mother spotted Shivaleeka at her cousin’s party, got impressed by her looks and arranged a meeting with Sajid Nadiadwala. He suggested her to assist him in movies, and it marked her entry to Bollywood.

6. Out of the 20 first auditions she attended, she got selected for just 2 ads.

7. After many failed auditions she had made her mind to do south Indian films, when she got the first break through ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’.
