Mahima Nambiar – South Indian Film Actress of ‘Ennamo Nadakkudhu’ fame

Mahima Nambiar is a south Indian actress who works in Malayalam and Tamil movies. She started with supporting roles in Malayalam cinema, and later graduated to lead roles in both Malayalam and Tamil movies. She predominantly works in Tamil movies, and owns many hit films to her credit. As an actress, the success of Ennamo Nadakkudhu gave her a major break to Tamil films. Kuttram 23, Asuraguru, Magamuni, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Annanukku Jai etc are some of her hit Tamil films in lead role. She also appeared in Puriyatha Puthir. Madhura Raja and Masterpiece are among her major Malayalam movies. She marks her Telugu debut with movie titled Vaadu Nenu Kaadhu in 2020.

She played Dileep’s younger sister in Kaaryasthan

Mahima Nambiar was born in Kasaragod, Kerala in 1994. Her father and elder brother are engineers. She is a trained classical dancer and singer. She marked her screen debut with Malayalam film Kaaryasthan (2010), playing the role of Dileep’s sister. She was only 15 when she appeared in this brief role. Later she marked her modeling career, which paved her way to Tamil movies. She was offered a role by director Samy in Sindhu Samaveli (2010), which she declined. Later the same production executive and the team recommended her for the movie Saattai (2012). The movie marked her Tamil debut. She played a school girl in the film.

She owns numerous hit films to her credit, mostly in Tamil

She received a major break through Ennamo Nadakkudhu. She was paired with Vijay Vasanth in this film. From there on she mostly worked in Tamil movies, and did only a few Malayalam film. She tasted success with almost every film she acted, and now she is one of the most sought actresses of Tamil cinema. Except Mosakutty, Asuraguru and Kodiveeran, where she played lead role, almost every movie registered box office success. Till now more than a dozen of her movies have been released since 2010, and she owns some promising projects as well.

Mahima Nambiar – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. Her real name is Gopika, and she changed her name to Mahima based on numerology, when she joined films.

2. Her elder brother’s name is Unnikrishnan and her real name is Gopika. She often wonders if siblings will be given these names by parents.

3. She was studying in class 12, when Sattai was released. Later she took a small break, completed her studies and then signed 4 films in a row.

4. She completed graduation and post-graduation in English literature privately.

5. Her Titktok video impressed director Vysakh and screenwriter Udaykrishna, and later she was offered the parallel lead role opposite Jai in Mammootty starrer Madhura Raja.

6. She quit her medicine studies to pursue a career in films.

7. She is generally talkative in nature. But she mostly did less-talking serious roles on screen. Her directors often warn her to keep quite at film sets.

8. After films, she loves cats most. She loves to play with them. In fact she has given interesting names such as Whisky and Scotch to her pet cats, and has already chosen ‘Wine’ as the name of their kid.

9. She is a foodie and ‘boiled eggs’ is her weakness. She also likes biryani.
