Bread Upma

Ingredients for Bread Upma:

1. Bread – 2 cups (after dipping once in water and squeezing water completely)

2. Oil – 4 small spoons

3. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Urud dal – 2 small spoons

4. Red chillies – 1, broken into three pieces

5. Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

6. Onion chopped fine – ½ cup

    Green chillies chopped into thin round pieces – 1 small spoon

    Ginger chopped fine – 1 small spoon

    Curry leaves – A handful

    Lemon juice – 1 small spoon

    Salt – for taste

8. Coconut scrapped – ¼ cup

How to prepare Bread Upma?

1. Cut bread into small pieces.

2. Heat oil and sputter mustard and urud dal, followed by red chillies.

3. Add turmeric powder, mix once and add ingredients no: 6 quickly.

4. Add lemon juice and salt, followed by bread pieces.

5. When water content is fully absorbed, add coconut, mix well and put off the flame.

Note: You can also add chopped tomatoes (saute with onions), red chilli powder, and a few coriander leaves for this recipe, that can be used as a breakfast dish or evening snack.
