Nimrat Khaira – Punjabi singer and actress

Nimratpal Kaur Khaira, known professionally as Nimrat Khaira is a Punjabi singer and actress. Mostly associated with Punjabi pop music, she also owns a few hit Punjabi film songs to her credit. She is associated with music scene since 2015, and has joined Punjabi film industry as an actress since 2017. Rohab Rakhdi, Suit, Designer, SP De Rank and Dubai Wale Sheikh are some of her popular songs. Lahoriye was her debut flick in a character role, and she played female lead in her second release, Afsar (2018) which was a box office hit.

Nimrat Khaira hails from Amritsar, Punjab. She was born in 1992. Her father works in forest department, while her mother is a teacher. She started learning music formally while studying at third standard. Sushil Narang was her first guru. She won singing reality show, Voice of Punjab season 3, after which she started a career in independent music. She released her first single – “Rab Karke” in 2015, and got a major break through her next two releases – “SP De Rank Wargi” and “Ishq Kacheri”, followed by “Salute Wajde” in 2016. After that she released a series of singles and achieved success.

Nimrat Khaira – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. As a child she was interested in acting, and later music attracted her. Now she is an actress and singer.

2. She studied biotechnology and music. She holds a post-graduation degree in music.

3. She was first seen in singing reality show, Awaaz Punjab Di while she was doing plus-two, and finished among top 20 contestants.

4. In the second season of Voice of Punjab in 2011, she was eliminated in the penultimate round just before finals, and in the next season the following year, she emerged as the winner.

5. Her popular single “Designer” in 2017 was initially removed by YouTube following plagiarism issues. However YouTube re-installed her song later.

6. She won Best Female Vocalist for Manje Bistre in 2018.

7. She won best female singer award at Brit Asia Awards for “Dubai Wale Sheikh”.
