Paul Sabu – American musician and rockstar of Indian origin
Paul Sabu is an Emmy winning American musician, music producer, recording engineer and singer of Indian origin. He also writes songs and plays guitar. He is the son of legendary Indian actor Sabu Dastagir best known for his work in British and Hollywood films in the late 1930s and later. As a music producer, he has mixed 14 Platinum and 11 Gold Records. In the early 1980s he formed a musical band, Sabu, and established as a musician. Known to be a rock legend, he has also collaborated with several international artists for different forms of music – from live performances and remixes to recordings.
Paul Sabu was born in the year 1960. He lost his father unexpectedly at the age of 3 and was later brought up by his mother. He had one sister Jasmine Sabu (deceased in 2001 at a comparatively young age) who was an animal trainer for movies, and she also wrote a few scripts. Only Child was the first musical band formed by Paul, and later he conducted music shows and released songs and albums under the band, ‘Sabu’, named after his father. He got success in the field of music at the age of 22 when he got selected as Motown Records’ official “Rock Dude”, beating hundreds of rock artists. Kidd Glove album, released in 1984 became a huge hit.
His best works were released in the 1980s and 1990s. Sabu in 1980 was his first official release, followed by Kidd Glove, Heartbreak, Only Child etc. Bangkok Rules, Call of the Wild and High & Mighty are some of his works in the recent past. Sabu and Between the Light are his popular albums in the 1980s.

1. His mother Marilyn Cooper was a small-time actress in the 1940s before she settled with married life.
2. His father was in his late 30s when he died of heart attack. Later Paul used the name of his father for his rock band, and established his name in rock scene of 1980s.
3. Apart from independent music, he has also produced music for films and TV shows.
4. Paul Sabu is considered to be one of the top AOR musicians of all time.
