Dev Negi – Bollywood playback singer who owns Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12 from Judwaa 2 to his credit

Dev Negi is a popular young singer associated with Bollywood music since 2013. After staying in Bollywood for nearly 5 years, he got the big break through the chartbuster song, song Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12 from Judwaa 2, a revived version of Anu Malik’s composition. He also owns many hit songs to his credit and has sung for all lead actors of present times.

Dev Negi is a native of Dwarahat of Almora, Uttarakhand. He was born in 1989. During his school days his family moved to Jalandhar where he grew up. He grew up listening to the classic hits sung by Rafi and Kishore Kumar, and got attracted to music since then. Slowly he started learning music listening and started performing at school festivals and cultural events. He also sang bhajans in Siva temple of Almora in those days. To pursue a career in music he reached Mumbai in 2010, and it took years of struggle to achieve success in the industry. As a playback singer, his first song was Delhi Delhi from the film Zindagi 50 50, released in 2013.

Dev Negi – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. His career began as a bhajan singer in a Shiva temple of his hometown. He also played manjira those days.

2. He has sung for a few TV shows during his struggling days in Mumbai. Chakravartin Ashok Samrat, Ek Boond Ishq and Beintahaa are those.

3. Many of his hit songs were written by Kumaar.

4. He loves to sing romantic songs most, though he has been mostly associated with fast numbers.

5. In 2017 he became the ghost voice for Varun Dhawan for two hit songs back to back – title track of Badri Ki Dulhania and Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12 from Judwaa 2. Both the films were hits too.

6. He loves to play guitar and travelling is also his favourite hobby.

7. His favourite actor is Akshay Kumar and popular singer is Sonu Nigam.

8. He has sung songs in Marathi, Bengali and Punjabi languages.
