Sanaya Irani – Popular Hindi television actress of ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ fame

Sanaya Irani is a very successful lead actress associated with Hindi soaps. She shot to fame playing the female lead Khushi Kumari Gupta in the family drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon opposite Barun Sobti. Miley Jab Hum Tum, Rangrasiya, Chhanchhan etc are her other popular TV roles. She also appears in brief roles in Bollywood movies, and has also done short films like Pihu. She is married to popular television actor Mohit Sehgal since 2016. They worked together in Miley Jab Hum Tum. Sanaya has participated in many reality shows, and was first finalist in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2015 and second runner-up in Nach Baliye in 2017 aside her actor husband.

Sanaya Irani belongs to a Parsi family of Mumbai, and was born in 1983. She did her schooling at Ooty where she stayed in a boarding school for 7 years. After graduation through she wanted to continue her studies and complete MBA, her desire to join acting field put an end to her academic studies. Her mother advised her to take modelling assignments instead of pursuing studies. She got her first role through Fanaa. Though the role was short she was excited to work with its lead actors, and later she shared screen space with many popular actors for TV ads before she joined television industry. Left Right Left in 2007 marked her television debut.

In her second show Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi she played a negative role. She got her major break to television through Miley Jab Hum Tum, followed by Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon opposite Barun Sobti and there was no turning back after that. She went on to become a popular actress of TV dramas. She has also hosted and participated in a few shows later.

1. She appeared as a background dancer in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Sawariya before she got big break to television. She was also seen in Aamir Khan starrer Fanaa, playing the role of Mehbooba.

2. This sweet young actress was featured in several popular Hindi music videos which include ‘Mere Naseeb Mein Tu Hai Remix’ and Jagjit Singh’s ‘Tumko Dekha To Yeh’.

3. During her initial days in television she faced a lot of struggles, and was poor in Hindi language.

4. Her first modelling portfolio was done by actor Boman Irani, who also owned a professional photographer’s career earlier.
