Raw Mango Rice
Ingredients for Raw Mango Rice:
1. Basmati rice – 1 cup
2. Chana dal (Kadala Paripp) – 2 table spoons
3. Urud dal (black gram dal) -2 table spoons
4. Peanut – ¼ cup
5. Green mango grated – ½ cup
6. Curry leaves – A little
7. Oil – 3 table spoons
8. Chilli powder and asafoetida – A little
9. Salt – As required
10. Green chillies chopped – 2
11. Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
12. Coconut scrapped, coriander leaves – To decorate
How to prepare Raw Mango Rice?
1. Soak rice in water for half an hour.
2. Boil 6 cups of water in a big vessel.
3. Add rice and salt and cook it till it’s almost done.
4. Heat a little oil in a pan, and sauté chana dal and urud dal till they turn golden brown.
5. Sputter mustard seeds.
6. Heat remaining oil in another pan, and then sauté peanuts.
7. Add fried chana and urud dal mixture to this pan and mix well.
8. Add asafoetida, green chillies, curry leaves and grated green mango.
9. Sauté for 2 minutes in medium flame.
10. Add scrapped coconut and cook for 2 more minutes.
11. Add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and mix well.
12. Finally add cooked rice and cook for 1 more minute.
13. Decorate with coriander leaves and a little scrapped coconut.

I also gt doubted, because chickpeas won’t cook well if fried in oil. Thank U. I shall correct it now.
One doubt, is it the same as Pottukadala, we use for chutney, mixture etc.
