10+ Smart tips to become a smart guest

Everyone loves to turn a wonderful host, where he/she gets an opportunity to receive guests and serve them with good meals. So, when guests reach such homes, they should also behave properly. Before you pay visit to your dear ones, you need to know a few manners, and strictly follow them also. Here I suggest you a few points.

1. Even when you visit homes at your neighbourhood, you need to keep good manners. If you go to that home soon after the members reach home after office or any other place, try to leave the place as early as possible. Same is the case of mornings too, when they are getting ready to go to office or busy preparing lunch for kids and other family members. Never disturb them too often for silly things.

2. Even while you decided to go to the home of a close relative, inform them earlier. If you visit them during meals time, you should tell them earlier. Also you can tell them if you would be present for lunch/dinner or not.

3. You can call the person over phone and fix a date and time convenient to his family too. You can plan your visit according to it. If you have plans in mind to stay with them for a few days, you should tell them earlier. You should never take that decision by yourself.

4. Even if host invites you with pleasure to stay for more days, it’s guest’s duty never to stay long. You should keep in mind that your host spends their valuable time, money and energy for you for all those days. So it’s your duty not to disturb them too much.

5. You should tell your host in detail, the time of your arrival, how long will you stay, and if you have plans to visit any other place or family. Explain even minute matters to know their convenience as well, so that they can plan according to that. If you have plans to go for an outing while staying there, you should tell them.

6. You should respect your host and your each activity at your host’s home should reflect it. You should be willing to change your time, daily routine, tastes and details in accordance to the tastes and time availability of your host. Arrange your meals time and bed time in accordance to it. Try to have food along with them.

7. If bathrooms available are less in number, you may need to change your bathing time and other daily routines. Yet try to adjust it. Same is the case of your favourite shows on TV or use of computer while staying there. Never try to alter or disturb the daily routines of your host as you desire.

8. You should enter host’s kitchen only after seeking their permission. If you have used up things in kitchen, never hesitate to buy new. Even if you don’t eat meals from your host’s home, you can go with them for an outing and purchase something benefitted for them; may be groceries or anything else. While preparing dishes, give them full opportunity to make the choice of dishes. Your suggestions may not be easy for them to afford always, and a few persons may dislike it too.

9. You can help your host to clean utensils, served plates and even dining table after meals. Even if your host may not allow doing all those things, you can spend time with them while they are doing so. You can assist them in kitchen also to do small helps if they allow.

10. You can present them with gifts as soon as you reach there or before you leave them. You can buy special gifts for kids. Also thank them and say good words before you leave. You can give them a ‘Thank You’ note also. They will treasure your visit forever.

And most important, you should assure yourself that none of your activities create problems or any sort of difficulties to your host.
