Chena – Kaaya Mezhukku Puratti (Yam – Raw Banana Dry Fry)

Ingredients for Chena – Kaaya Mezhukku Puratti (Yam – Raw Banana Dry Fry):

1. Elephant yam cut into small square pieces – 1.5 cups

    Raw banana chopped (after removing skin and split lengthwise into 4 equal parts) – 1.5 cups

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

     Water – As required

2. Salt – For taste

3. Coconut oil – 1.5 big spoons

4. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Red chillies – 2, broken into 2 or 3

5. Shallots chopped – 1 big spoon

    Garlic – 3 or 4 cloves, chopped

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk

How to prepare Chena – Kaaya Mezhukku Puratti (Yam – Raw Banana Dry Fry)?

1. Cook together ingredients listed as 1.

2. Add salt and allow the water content to fully evaporate.

3. Once done, take off from flame.

4. Heat oil in a pan and sauté mustard and chillies.

5. Sauté ingredients no: 5, followed by cooked yam and banana.

6. Continue stirring till water content is fully absorbed.

7. Add a little coconut oil, mix well and take off from flame.
