Chakka Thera Vilayichath is a typical Kerala dish. It is a two-phase process. You need to make Chakka Thera first. Chakka thera is nothing but dried jackfruit that can be preserved for many days. For this, you first need to blend well jackfruit in a mixer and fry it well in an urli till water content is almost absorbed. Now you can spread it and dry it under sun.

To prepare Chakka Thera Vilayichath, heat a big spoon of ghee in a pan, add half cup Thengaa Kottu (scrapped coconut after extracting milk) and sauté it. Before it changes colour, add 1 cup scrapped coconut and 1 cup melted jaggery and continue stirring.

Cut chakka thira into small pieces and add 2 cups to this coconut mixture and stir continuously. When it starts heating, add cardamom powder (from three cardamoms) and mix well. Stitch off the flame, and serve after sometime.
