Aval Payasam

Rice flakes, known as Aval in Tamil and Malayalam is used to prepare a wide range of sweet dishes. I have added yet another Aval Payasam recipe published in Vanitha. You can refer this link.

Ingredients of Aval Payasam:

  1. Ghee – 2tsp
  2. Cashew nuts – 1 tsp
  3. Raisins – 1 tsp
  4. Aval (roasted rice) – 150 gm
  5. Sugar – 150 gm
  6. Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  7. Aval powder – ¼ cup
  8. Milk – ½ litre

How to prepare Aval Payasam?

  1. Heat ghee and roast cashew and raisins. Remove them from hot ghee.
  2. In the remaining ghee roast aval.
  3. Add aval powder and milk and stir continuously.
  4. Add sugar and boil for 5 minutes.
  5. Add roasted cashew and raisins and put the flame off.
