Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are the three leading Khans of Bollywood followed by Saif Ali Khan, and all these 4 Khans have given box office hits playing dual roles. Among Khans, King Khan played maximum dual roles

Not only that Salman Khan too played dual role in the film, and it’s the first released film where both Khans shared screen space for a Bollywood film. Later they worked together in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. They played the role of two brothers in the first birth, and the movie turned to be a blockbuster.
Khan’s second film is a triple role is English Babu Desi Mem (1996) where he played father and two sons. Needless to say, the film was a flop. His third movie Duplicate, which proved to be a disaster at Bollywood. He played both antagonist and protagonist roles in the film, and definitely one among his worst roles in a dual role. Shah Rukh Khan played the dual role of a husband, and a ghost disguised as husband of Rani Mukerji in Paheli. Though his role was critically well-acclaimed, and the single movie of actor’s career to be nominated at Academy awards, the movie was a box office failure.
Among all his movies, Om Shanti Om based on the theme of incarnation is his most successful film, which turned to be a blockbuster. His dual role in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don received positive response from critics and audience alike. Similar to his disaster Duplicate, he played both positive and negative roles on screen. But this time it proved successful. He played the double role of a game designer and game’s protagonist in Ra-One. Though this science-fiction movie was a new experiment in Indian films, it was not well-received. Ra-One was only average at box office.
His recent release – Fan too belongs to the same category where he played both the star and his fan, who turns antagonist in the second half. Though Shah Rukh received overwhelming response for his performance as a fan, the second half of the movie was not convincing and the movie fared only average at box office.
In short, among his double roles, his movies based on the theme of incarnation – Karan Arjun and Om Shanti Om cashed well at box office and his performance in Paheli and Ra-One were well-appreciated. Though Aamir has been associated with Bollywood for three decades or so, as far as I know, he played double role in Dhoom-3 only. He played the role of two brothers in the film. It was not for the first time, Aamir played negative role in a film. Though the movie mostly received negative response from critics and had an unhappy ending similar to its first part, Dhoom-3 turned to be a huge blockbuster and broke all box office records till then.

Salman played a double role for the first time in Survavanshi, which sank without any traces. However he played the brother of Shah Rukh Khan in the movie based on incarnation – Karan Arjun which turned to be a huge hit. Both these movies were based on the theme of re-birth. He played the role of twin brothers in the Hindi remake of 1994 Telugu movie Hello Brother. The movie titled Judwaa was released in 1997, which turned to be a blockbuster.
He later played the dual role in Heroes (2008) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). Heroes received positive response from critics, and performed average at box office. Though the movie received mixed response from critics, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo turned to be a huge blockbuster. The movie remains the most successful film of Khan in a double role. Till now, Salman Khan played double roles in 5 Bollywood films, which include three blockbusters, one average and one flop.

Hamesha – a story on incarnation and love was his first film where he played a double role. The movie was a flop. He played the role of young Veer Singh and Jaivardhan Singh in Love Aaj Kal, which gave a strong message on love relationship. His contrasting roles as traditional Veer Singh and modern Jaivardhan Singh were quite convincing on screen and the movie too became a big hit at box office. Later Saif Ali Khan played dual roles in Humsakals and Happy Ending (a small role). Happy Ending performed average at box office, while Humsakals was a complete washout. Till now, Saif Ali Khan played double role in 4 movies, which include one blockbuster, one average and two flops.
