Ameesha to Pooja – Actresses who debut opposite Hrithik Roshan

Mohenjo Daro is the recent release of Hrithik Roshan, and the movie launched a newcomer heroine Pooja Hedge to the film industry. However, the movie received mixed reviews from critics and fell short of audience’ expectations. Who are those actresses who started of their Bollywood journey opposite Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik started off his film journey as a child artist in the year 1980, and in the 1990s he worked as an assistant director under his father, before he was launched as an actor by his father Rakesh Roshan through the film – Kaho Na Pyar Hai. With the rise of new century and millennium, a new star was born in Bollywood, and cine critics predicted that Hrithik is to conquer the Bollywood film scene.

Worked with less number of debutantes

Though he started off his successful career opposite another debutant Ameesha Patel in Kaho Na Pyar Hai, he worked with only lesser number of debutants in the past 16-17 years or so. Hrithik mostly worked with established actresses of Bollywood, and has been most successful with Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Preity Zinta. His screen chemistry with Kareena Kapoor is well-appreciated, though they frequently created flops together.

Ameesha Patel – Most successful among his debutant co-stars

Hrithik became an overnight star with the release of his romantic musical – Kaho Na Pyar Hai. He was paired with the successful model Ameesha Patel for his debut flick. In fact Kareena Kapoor was to play the female lead of this film, and she walked out after shooting a few scenes. Hrithik later worked with Bollywood debutantes – Bárbara Mori for Kites (2010) and Pooja Hegde for Mohenjo Daro (2016). But both these much hyped movies failed to create magic at box office.

Rather than onscreen chemistry of Hrithik and Bárbara Mori, there off-screen chemistry find place in tabloids during the shooting of the film, Kites. The film terribly failed at box office also. With his recent release, Mohenjo Daro, Pooja Hedge marked her Bollywood debut. Film’s box office earnings are not encouraging. Yet we can wait for positive results.
