Vivek Agrawal – Film producer of ‘Land Gold Women’ fame
Vivek Agrawal is a film producer associated with English and Bollywood films. He also owns a family production banner alongside his director wife, Avantika Hari and the duo entered the film field through English film, Land Gold Women in 2011. The film won numerous awards in Film festival circuit and also bagged National award for best feature film in English in 2010. The film had a theatre release in 2011.
Vivek Agrawal was born in South Mumbai. While doing his second year graduation at Mumbai, he got into ad field. He met Avantika Hari in 2008 and they later worked together for their debut project, Land Gold Women, the first English film based on the subject of honour killing. Since 2010 he has co-produced a few Bollywood films, and currently a few films in pipeline. He also scripted two romantic comedies – ‘Game Over’ and ‘When Jai Married Jeena’.
Vivek Agrawal – Some interesting facts
1. Though he has co-produced a few Bollywood movies such as Mausam, London Paris New York, Bombay Velvet etc since 2010, he is yet to make a commercial hit. But in most cases he has worked with lead actors of Bollywood.
2. Both Vivek and his wife started their professional careers during their academic years, and Vivek was initially associated with ad films before he joined hands with Avantika to produce the first English film.
3. By casting the lead pair in Land Gold Women both as Muslim characters the filmmakers broke stereotyping the honour killing as an issue of inter-caste or inter-faith only. The film was inspired from a real-life incident, which deeply moved Avantika who conducted research work and approached her husband after she prepared the screenplay.
4. Vivek was so much impressed by the screenplay that he decided to co-produce the film. The film was made very simple, which appealed film critics.
