Avirbhav Verma – Tabla artist from Chandigarh

Avirbhav Verma is an Indian musician and percussionist, best known as a tabla artist. He follows Hindustani tradition of classical music, inherited to him through his forefathers. He is the grandson of Pandit Lachman Singh Seen of Punjab Gharana, renowned tabla artist. Apart from solo performances, he has also been associated with Hindustani musicians and vocalists, apart from different French music bands. He has been honoured by Punjab state government with a state award, and many cultural organizations.

Avirbhav Verma was born in Chandigarh in 1985. He was introduced to the world of music by his father who taught him tabla. Born into a traditionally rich musical family, Verma too decided to pursue a career in the field of music. He has collaborated with many renowned artists of Indian classical music for their live performances, Dhondutai Kulkarni, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Vidyadhar Vyas etc to name a few.

1. Avirbhav Verma follows Punjab tradition of Hindustani classical music, passed to him by his ancestors. His grandfather Pandit Lachman Singh Seen and Pawan Kumar Verma are renowned musicians and tabla players. His elder brother, Swarit Verma is also a tabla artist.

2. His mother Gandharv Verma is a vocalist who regularly performs in Doordarshan and AIR.

3. He lost his father at a younger age which the artist feels an irreplaceable gap. He always felt that if his father is alive, he could have guided him better. He lost his father in year 2000 at the age of 15.

4. Avirbhav has performed in France, New Zealand, Korea, Indonesia and many other countries. Very often he has been honoured with awards and recognitions by foreign countries.
