Maneesha. K. S – Singer from Kerala best known for Christian devotional song, “Daivasneham Varnichidaan”

Maneesha. K. S is a less-known singer from Kerala, best known for the popular Christian devotional song, “Daivasneham Varnichidaan” recorded in the 1990s. She was a degree student at Thrissur Vimala College when she recorded this iconic track at Thrissur Chethana Studio 25 years back. She came to limelight once again in 2019 when she burst into tears while sharing stage with legendary playback singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for a musical show, and singing the duet, Malare Maunama from the movie, Karna. She also plays brief roles on big and small screen, and has appeared in around 30 Malayalam movies.

Maneesha. K. S hails from Thrissur. She completed her studies at Thrissur. During her academic years, she won many singing competitions including National Intervarsity Youth Festival Competition. After winning the competition, she got opportunity to go to Dubai for a musical concert in 1997. Unexpectedly she started her career as a radio jockey at Dubai. Very soon her name was announced as best singer at Kerala Sangeeta Natak Academy. But she couldn’t come back and receive the awards personally.

She worked in Dubai for 11 years, missing several golden opportunities in her home country. Yet she doesn’t regret over the loss. She has been fully involved with ‘Ganamela’ troupe in Kerala for more than 10 years. She performed at many celebrations in Kerala, apart from performing abroad.

Maneesha turned emotional while sharing stage space with SPB at Devamatha CMI Public School Thrissur

1. She won National Intervarsity Youth Festival Competition in light music, after which she turned busy with music troupes.

2. In 1997 when Doordarshan Thiruvananthapuram conducted a national devotional musical program in association with golden jubilee celebrations of Independence Day, she was the youngest singer of the troupe. She was invited to sing by Udaya Bhanu.

3. In 2019, singer Sujatha shared a clip on Facebook, where Maneesha was seen singing at home. The song went viral and received 2 million views within a short period.

4. She appeared in Mohanlal starrer Rasathanthram and Thanmatra in brief roles and many more films.

5. Her role as Vasavadatta in ‘Thateem Mutteem’ – sitcom on Mazhavil Manorama was well received.

6. She won Kerala Sangeeta Nadaka Academy award for music in 1997.
